We found some new details about the Porsche Boxster Spyder ahead of the LA Motor Show. he Boxster Spyder will indeed run the same 315bhp 3.4-litre engine as the Cayman S. It’s a significantly different motor to the 305bhp unit in a Boxster S, however: it revs all the way to 7500rpm, and features a different crankcase, different engine mounts, a different oil pump, different intake manifolds and

Back in the late 80’s Lamborghini built a vicious 4×4 called the LM002. It had the V12 from the Countach upfront and as you can imagine with that sort of power was an incredible vehicle offroad. It would have easily been able to venture off the tarmac and onto curbs, straight over them and not really getting damaged in the process.

The Murcielago not so much. This one smashed into a curb and lost it’s passenger side front wheel.

Glad this didn’t happen to me.

The scrappage scheme that was providing desperately needed buyers of new cars to forecourts across the UK will not be extended to 2010 it has been announced. Lord Mandelson (Peter) told a conference on the 24th that the scheme will end as planned. A total of 400,000 motorists are likely to have taken up the offer provided by the scheme, giving up to £2,000 officially off a new motor, though in some cases more, by the end of February 28th, 2010 – marking the official closing date for the scheme.

Worryingly, whilst Mandelson spoke about keeping the car industry afloat, he did mention that Ministers wanted the UK to become a “low carbon capital of Europe”. Does this mean that in a few years time the government will be forcing everyone into grotty little eco-matchboxes? Watch this space, you heard it here first…

Nice first drive review here of the Porsche 911 Sport Classic. What’s it like? Surprisingly comfortable. If you’re expecting a stripped-out semi-GT car, then that is not what the Sport Classic is about. Instead the interior draws heavily on Porsche’s Exclusive department, so much of the cabin is finished in the Expresso Nature (dark brown) leather, including the air vents and door handles.
